The Challenge
Based out of Mesquite, TX, North Texas Team Care Surgery Center is a fully physician-owned multi-specialty surgery center focusing heavily on Pain Management, GI, General, and Orthopedic procedures. Their center was experiencing a multitude of issues with their ASC products from Surgical Information Systems, including consistency, efficiency, and accuracy. Reports didn’t match, and billing complications were frequent. Adam Hornback, the facility’s administrator, was struggling to improve tracking costs and manipulating the system was difficult. Their previous system did not work on tablets, which led to clinical staff paying more attention to the software than the patients. On top of that, they found customer service lacked the necessary helpfulness.
The Solution
After speaking with various Administrators and clinical users who utilized HST Pathways’ products, their overwhelming satisfaction and continuous praise solidified North Texas Team Care Surgery Center’s confidence to adopt HST Pathways’ suite of ASC software products. The facility’s Administrator, Adam Hornback’s favorite product is HST Case Coordination. He particularly appreciates the ability to instant message between offices, the facility, and representatives, which has greatly improved their operations. With its integrated reporting systems, they no longer need to navigate outside the product and consult multiple reports for the information they need. Accurate reports are crucial for tracking cases, accounts receivable, and collections. With this system, their reports have become accurate and easier to obtain, enhancing their overall efficiency.
My favorite is the HST Case Coordination program. We do not utilize it to its maximum yet; however, the ability to communicate between the offices and the facility, the ability to communicate between reps and the facility, those are great items. And plus, the notification features, all very nice. I like that very much.

The Results
Through their use of their suite of HST Pathways’ products, North Texas Team Care Surgery Center now has the necessary tools to enhance case costing and effectively monitor expenses.
The team has seen a significant improvement in time savings compared to their previous systems. Previously, they were confined to laptops, which hindered their ability to fully engage with patients while working with their EMR software. Now, with HST eChart, they can perform tasks on tablets, which has been tremendously helpful. This shift has allowed them to focus more on their patients while still accessing the required information.
The reporting system is good. Being an Administrator, I’m constantly watching the trends, so you need reports that you can follow that, and you need them to be accurate. I found that these are absolutely more accurate.

The Future
North Texas Team Care Surgery Center has not yet utilized HST Case Coordination to its fullest, and Adam Hornback, the facility’s Administrator, believes that the program has great potential to improve communication between offices and the facility as well as between representatives and the facility. North Texas Team Care Surgery Center is also looking to further improve tracking costs, which can be achieved through the HST Case Coordination.
